December 2015 Luncheon: Joe Meyer

About the presenter: Joe Meyer has been the Executive Director & CEO at Shelter House, Inc. since May of 2014.  He started his tenure at Shelter House in 2005 as the Shelter Director at the Patrick Henry Family Shelter.  Mr. Meyer has been working in homeless services since 2001 where he started his Social Work career as a Case Manager with Reston Interfaith (Cornerstones). Mr. Meyer has served on numerous committees and councils that have promoted the Ten Year Plan:  Case Management Process Improvement Committee, the Point-in-Time Planning Committee, Fairfax County Community Forum on Homelessness Education & Advocacy Committee, and the Shelter Intake Redesign to name a few.  He currently serves on the Domestic Violence Prevention & Policy Coordinating Council and the Housing Options Interagency Workgroup.   Mr. Meyer is graduate of Leadership Fairfax’s Emerging Leadership Institute (ELI) class of 2006 and Leadership Greater Washington 2013.  He has prepared himself to take on the Executive Director position by participating in the inaugural Future Executive Directors Fellowship Program facilitated by the Greater Washington Nonprofit Roundtable.  He is a graduate of Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work.
